Megas Gialos

Megas Gialos beach is one of the largest and loveliest beaches making it very popular with visitors. It’s a golden sandy shore with crystal blue waters. The shallow waters in combination with plentiful shade provided by the trees and beach umbrellas make it ideal for families. Megas Gialos is in the south side of the island and is naturally protected from the northern winds. An of restaurants allow for a full day at the beach. It is 12 km from Ermoupolis town, and can be reached by car or bus.

Galissas Beach is the most popular beach on the island of Syros, located approximately 5 km from Ermoupolis and can be reached by car or bus. It is actually a small bay; the waters are safe, thus ideal for families with small children. The seashore is golden sandy while trees along the coast provide a bit of shade. Windsurfing is a very popular activity on this beach and there are also other water sports available. Many traditional taverns, cafes and beach bars lay by the seaside.

Poseidonia Beach (Agathopes) is a well-organized beach to the south of the island; the beach is long, sandy with crystal blue waters and offers something for everybody. Luxury bar, cafes and taverns, low cost sun beds, high-end sun beds, space for people who do not want sun beds, free showers and facilities for disabled people. It boasts a great view to the Aegean Sea and to the small islets of Stroggylo and Schinonissi, opposite the beach. Agathopes is also home to the rare “Sand Lily” which grows in the sand during the spring and summer months.

If you are visiting in the spring and are lucky you may even catch a glimpse of the Monachus-Monachus (Monk Seals) coming to shore.

Αzolimnos beach has blue waters and golden sand. It offers umbrellas and sun beds, which are free, however, natural shade is offered by the dozens of trees along the beach. The three quays, two on the beach and the third by the side of the beach, are ideal for diving, while cafes and restaurants located in the street just behind the beach.

Vari beach

Vari beach is one of the most popular beaches, located in the south side of the island. The small enclosed bay and shallow waters are ideal for young children. It is fully organized and offers facilities for a variety of water sports. Vari beach can be reached by bus or by car.

Kini beach

Kini beach

Kini beach is located on the west coast of the island. It is fully organized with umbrellas and sun beds and is within walking distance of taverns and cafes. In the center of the beach there is a beautiful fountain of a mermaid holding and saving a castaway. From Kini beach, boats depart daily for the northern beaches of Syros, which are not accessible by road. (Grammata, Aetos ect). Tip: Kini, offers the best sunset in Syros.

Foinikas beach

Foinikas beach

Foinikas beach is a long sandy beach, in a well-protected from the north winds bay. Here you will find umbrellas and trees to protect yourself from the sun. Foinikas beach is an excellent fishing ground, but if you want to eat fish without necessarily fishing it yourself, then simply visit the taverns near the sea.

Αchladi is located in the south part of the island. It is a small closed bay with clear, calm and safe waters suitable for families with young children. The restaurants along the water will satisfy your hunger; offer you local delicacies and a wonderful view of the sea. Tip: ideal for snorkeling.

Lia beach is located in the bay Aetos in Syros, just to the opposite side of Grammata beach and may be approached by boats departing from Kini village daily.

Komito beach

Komito beach is located at the southwest point of Syros, just a bit past Agathopes beach. Trees and a few umbrellas offer shade and there is a small beach bar.

Delfini

Delfini

Delfini is primarily a pebble beach with a narrow sandy passage on the right hand side. Umbrellas, sun beds and facilities for water sports, are available, along with taverns where you can enjoy fish and other local delicacies. Tip: due to its location Delfini coast is sheltered from the northern winds that prevail during the summer in the Cyclades.

Fabrika beach

Fabrika beach, which gets its name from the old pottery factory that operated in the area, is one of the options that the visitor has on the southern side of the island. At Fabrika beach you will find a few umbrellas and the beach is considered one of the quiet, secluded ones of Syros, with golden sand and a few pebbles.

Sousouni beach

Sousouni beach- If you are in Foinikas and want to avoid the busy main beach, then at a distance of about 1.5 km to the north is the secluded tiny Sousouni. It is a narrow beach with sand and pebbles. Make sure to take water and a snack with you. Shade is plentiful due to the trees that reach down to the water. Access is via a dirt road.

Kokkina beach

Kokkina beach is a small secluded beach just in the village of Foinikas, just past Sousouni beach. It offers a few umbrellas but no other facilities so bring along your snacks and drinks and enjoy the beautiful waters all day.

Lotos beach

Lotos beach is a quiet beach on the west coast with clear blue waters. Water, coffee, and snacks are available in the small tavern, but for anyone looking for more options Kini village is very close. Tip: Lotos is the best and safest option when southerly winds blow in Syros, as the bay is protected and the water clears.

Santorinioi beach

Santorinioi beach

Santorinioi beach is a calm beach, located between Vari and Azolimnos, south of Ermoupolis. Golden sand and clear blue water, the beach offers no infrastructure so make sure to bring along an umbrella, water and a snack.

Asteria beach

Asteria beach

Asteria beach is one of the three beaches that are within the limits of Ermoupolis town (the other two are the Taliro and Kimata). The beach is located at the north end of the city's coastline, at the bay to the left from the port of Syros, in the beautiful district of Vaporia. There is a platform for diving, and ladders that go into the water. The bar located there will quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger.
